BARRA GRANDE Far from the most famous tourist centers, this peaceful village and its splendid beaches fascinate everyone who goes there. LODGING The Peninsula of Maraú offers hotels and many pleasant pousadas, typical Brazilian lodges, located in the town or close to beaches and nature.	BEACHES The longest beaches are located on the ocean side of the Peninsula. With strong waves, good for surfing, they have white sand and coral reefs which form natural swimming pools at low tide. On the other side of the Peninsula, facing the Camamu Bay, beaches are smaller, with calm water.
CAMAMU BAY The Camamu Bay is Brazil's third biggest bay, after Todos os Santos (Bahia) and Guanabara (Rio de Janeiro). It is a sanctuary of preserved nature and wild life, with beautiful landscapes, mangroves, forests and many islands.	MARAÚ Far from the beaches is the chief town of the County, Maraú, which is located in the middle of the peninsula, on the Camamu Bay. It is a fishermen village with old houses and stone-paved streets.	TAIPUS DE FORA With more than 7 km of extension, giant coconut palms and clear sand, the beach of Taipus de Fora is the most popular of the peninsula. The great attraction is a huge natural swimming pool surrounded by corals with rich submarine fauna. It is an excellent place for snorkel diving.
